Weather Conditions We look to create pictures which have dramatic and beautiful weather conditions. Our prints include pictures of stormy skies to summer sunsets and these conditions need to be planned for. Our pictures of Newcastle, for example, are generally all planned and shot on clear evenings with good visibility and crisp light. We rely on the Met Office and the BBC forecasts for planning our work. A recent example of this was winter 2009 and 2010 when we pictured The Fourth Rail Bridge in Edinburgh. Conditions were very difficult to work in and reached 10 degrees below at times. We captured the morning sunrise with freezing fog just in time. This type of picture took planning and hard driving conditions to achieve a great print and the result we wanted. Dusk and night pictures are photographed with long shutter times. We shoot a lot of our night scenes in March and October when the light and weather is dramatic and the days slightly shorter. Other times of the year mean photographing cities late at night.
